World's best athlete, Usain Bolt for the second time in his career is winning the recognition that Larures assigned to the athlete that marked the previous year. The ladies laskavoto recognition went to the leading player, Serena Williams. 
Bolt in 2009 won three gold trophies at the World Championships in Berlin and topple world records at 100 and 200 meters
And the younger of the Williams sisters for the second time to win recognition, she triumphed in two Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne and Wimbledon and finished the season first in the rankings list.
Best team in 2009 was named Brown GP, and the driver of this team and current world champion in Formula 1, Jenson Button was named the new sports person of the year.
